    Lee Won-young View
    • studied landscape architecture at the University of Seoul. She has spearheaded Seoul's efforts to create urban open space for over 30 years. He led a campaign that paved the way for citizen-led tree planting movements called "Seoul, a Blooming Flower," which increased quantity of green spaces in Seoul and raised the city's status as a green city. The very first Seoul Garden Show was also held under his leadership, a function that played a major role in spreading garden culture in the city. Today, he strives to lay the groundwork for the Seoul Botanic Park to become a world-class botanical garden,

    • In this position, I am responsible for the strategic planning, development, and oversight of the arboretum and grounds, outdoor gardens and displays, and the living collections within the 250-acre National Historic Landmark Landscape of the New York Botanical Garden. I provide leadership and direction for the management and the curatorial staff. Recent projects on which I was a lead staff member are A Million Daffodil Initiative, renovations of the Maple Collection, the Lilac Collection, and the redesign of the Children’s Adventure Garden.

  • Plants collection at botanic gardens

    • Working with NACPEC including Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University, Morris Arboretum of U. Penn, Morton Arboretum and etc., Many expeditions were carried on for the seed collecting in National Natural Preserves, National Forest Parks in China, Russia and USA, Since 2005.
      As professional research horticulturist at Beijing Botanical Garden, I am working with international botanists and horticulturists on rare and dangerous plant conservation of some maple species and ash tree species. I am also a member of the IUCN/SSC Global Tree Specialist Group.

    • Raised by a father who has turned a small island of Geojedo into a beautiful garden for 52 years and trained by President Lee Taek-Ju of Hantaek Botanical Graden Foundation who has studied Korea’s wild plants and their ecological environment for 40 years, Kang has learned and continues to learn more about gardens, plants and ecology based on a field-centered approach and nurtures herself by continually sowing and weeding.

    • While Served for Chollipo Arboretum 10 years as the Department Head of Plant Collections after being trained at Longwood Gardens in USA and RHS Garden Wisley in UK, made practical base of the arboretum such as composition of organization, development of human resources, computerization, display, education and etc.
      Contributed immensely for the advancement of botanic gardens and arboreta in Korea as the secretary general or vice-president of Korean Association of Botanic Gardens and Arboreta for many years.
      Kept active not only for various well known botanic gardens and arboreta including national arboretum as an advisory panel but also for the better future of gardening culture and industry.
      While running the plant nursery, Misan Plant & Garden Solutions, collect, develop and distribute various plants for garden use.

    JEON, JEONG-ILL View
    • He has received bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees from the Department of Forest Resources, Seoul National University. He worked as an assistant curator and researcher at Seoul National University Arboretum, and as an exchange researcher at the Nanjing Botanical Garden, China. Since 2001, he has been a professor of the Department of Horticulture Design of Shingu College. He is also working as the director of Shingu Botanic Garden of Shingu College at the present.

    Kim, Wan Soon View
    • Professor Kim served as the first chair of the Seoul Metropolitan Urban Agriculture Committee (2012-2014). After then, he has educated and trained over 350 citizen gardeners in cooperation with Seoul Metropolitan Government since 2014. Besides, he contributed to the national master plan for the gardening policy through the study of the state of Korea gardening industry status and outlook in 2015.

    Carlos Moniz Presentation
    • Carlos has been employed at the Butchart Gardens for 45 years and currently holds the position as the Director of Horticultural. As part of a family tradition Carlos follows in the footsteps of his father who was the Head Gardener during the 1980’s. Carlos plays an integral role in the designing and coordinating the installation of the spectacular floral displays which involves the annual summer and spring plantings. He is also quite involved in the design of the many landscape changes created throughout the gardens.
