Ximin is the head of Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden, China. He got his master’s degree in environmental education and interpretation from University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, US in 2008. After that, he worked with WWF China, and RARE Conservation as an environmental educator. He spent 8 years as the head of education department of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, Chinese Academy of Science. In 2014, he received Marsh Award for Education in Botanical Gardens from BGCI and the Marsh Christian Trust. He also was the translator of Last Child in the Woods:Saving Our Children from Nature-Deficit Disorder, written by Richard Louv.
